Meet Debora Mendonça.
Speaker 11 of 12. VOICES Orlando Live. April 25, 2026.

2,408 people decided this stage deserved her voice. They were right.

Her talk is called Built Different: How Minority Leaders Redefine Power.

What if the very things that made you feel like an outsider are actually your greatest leadership advantage?

Débora shares how her journey as an immigrant shaped a new understanding of power, one rooted in resilience, empathy, and self-accountability. Through real stories and hard-earned lessons, she challenges what leadership is supposed to look like and makes the case that diverse perspectives do not just belong at the table. They elevate it.

This is a call to embrace what makes you different and use it to lead with intention, impact, and authenticity.

I felt genuine excitement when I encountered her work. For what she is saying. For the people in that room who need to hear it. For what it means for this community.

That excitement has not gone away.

270 out of 293 seats are spoken for. If you want to be in that room on April 25th, register now. We expect to be at capacity.

Meet Kelsey Evans-Amalu, PhD.

Speaker 10 of 12. VOICES Orlando Live. April 25, 2026.

2,408 votes were cast by this community to determine who would take this stage. Dr. Kelsey is here because you put her here.

Her talk is called Change the People, Change the City.

Dr. Kelsey is a researcher, professor at UCF, and founder of The Mindful Prof.

She works at the intersection of nervous system science, leadership, and real world performance. And she is bringing that to our stage.

Here is what I know to be true.

Everything comes down to the nervous system. A regulated one and you are operating at your peak, regardless of what is happening around you. A dysregulated one and things start to unravel. Your work. Your decisions. And most importantly, your relationships. Not to mention what chronic stress and cortisol do to the body over time.

We talk a lot about systems that need to change. Dr. Kelsey is talking about the system inside you. The one you can actually do something about right now, without waiting for anything or anyone else to move first.

Orlando is growing fast. The people holding it together deserve to know how to hold themselves together too.

Meet Meridith Hankenson Alexander and Schuyler Arakawa.

Speaker 9 of 12. VOICES Orlando Live. April 25, 2026.

2,408 votes were cast by this community to determine who would take this stage. Meridith and Schuyler are here because you put them here.

Their talk is called A Whole New World: How a Falling Boulder Rewrote Our Happily Ever After.

When a falling boulder in Colombia nearly killed 22-year-old Yale graduate Schuyler Arakawa, every dream she had and every dream her mother held shattered in an instant. What followed was not the end of their story. It was the rewriting of it. A wheelchair became a runway. Kryptonite became superpower. And a mother and daughter launched a movement reminding the world that impossible is often just the beginning.

I have known people in my life who have been through the unimaginable and came out the other side radiating pure joy. Not in spite of what they survived. Because of who they chose to become.

That is true strength. And the moment Meridith and Schuyler started talking, that is exactly what I felt pouring out of them.

Joy.
That is rare. That is worth showing up for.

258 out of 293 seats are spoken for. If you want to be in that room on April 25th, register now. We expect to be at capacity.

Meet Theron Skees.
Speaker 8 of 12. VOICES Orlando Live. April 25, 2026.
His talk is called The Designer’s Creative.

Theron is a former senior creative executive at Walt Disney Imagineering. Over a career spanning 30 years, he led projects worth billions of dollars, infusing brand story and narrative into theme parks, destination experiences, and organizations worldwide.

Today he brings that same framework to the world through The Designer’s Creative Studio, using what he calls Narrative Experience Design to help organizations transform customers into audiences and experiences into identity.

I have to be honest with you. This one is personal.

My uncle worked at Disney from the day it opened until he passed away in 2010. I grew up making the drive from Lake Wales to the parks every single year, more times than I could ever count. I spent six months working there after graduating from UF.

Like so many of us in Central Florida, Disney is not just a place I have been. It is woven into who I am.

So when Rita Richa of Bippity Boppity Business connected me with Theron, I paid attention. And when I understood what he does, I knew immediately he belonged on this stage.

Story is not decoration. Experience is not a bonus. Theron has spent three decades proving that they are the whole thing.

Meet Lilly Elif Akyel.
Speaker 7 of 12. VOICES Orlando Live. April 25, 2026.
Her talk is called I Was Just Peeling a Potato.

I need you to stay with that title for a second.

Most of us move through life with a quiet sense that where we are is not quite enough. Always reaching for a better state, a better version, a better moment.

Even when things slow down, we turn it into something to analyze, something to optimize, something to improve.

But what if nothing special happens at all?

Elif is not talking about becoming better or more aware. She is talking about noticing what remains when there is nothing to fix, nothing to reach, and nowhere else to be.

I find joy in the mundane. It is where my brain finally gets to rest. In a world that rewards output and optimization above almost everything else, that is a quietly radical thing to admit.

Elif is one of the brightest lights I have ever met. And I adore her. The way she holds this idea, with such gentleness and such clarity, makes you want to go home and peel something.

She belongs on this stage.

Meet Joshua Walker.
Speaker 6 of 12. VOICES Orlando Live. April 25, 2026.

His talk is called Better Together: Building Communities with BOTs. And yes, BOTs means two things. That is entirely the point.

Here is what Joshua is bringing to our stage.

Building Our Tech started with humans. Empowered, committed, show up for each other humans who built a thriving community from the ground up. Now they are asking a bigger question. How do you scale something that was built on human connection without losing the thing that made it worth building in the first place?

The answer involves AI agents, automation, and a framework for doing it without hollowing out your mission.

This is the conversation everyone in tech and community building needs to be having right now. Not whether to use AI. But how to use it in a way that preserves what actually matters.

Joshua has lived it. And he is bringing the blueprint.

Meet Shayla Cannady.
Speaker 5 of 12. VOICES Orlando Live. April 25, 2026.

Her talk is called The First Welcome.

Orlando is a city built on arrivals. People come here from everywhere, chasing something. And for thousands of families, the very first moment they are welcomed into public life is not a theme park or a job or a handshake at a chamber event.

It is a school enrollment form.

That moment, quiet and administrative as it seems, is actually where belonging begins. Or does not.

A decade working in public education taught me that belonging is never accidental. When it is real, everyone feels it. When it is missing, everyone feels that too.

Shayla makes the case that belonging must be designed. Intentionally. Into the very first systems a family touches when they arrive. Through the lens of public education, strategic communications, and parenthood, she is reframing what it means to truly welcome someone into a community.

I knew the moment I encountered her work that she needed to be on this stage. 🌞

Meet Sheena Fowler.

Speaker 4 of 12. VOICES Orlando Live. April 25, 2026.

People told Sheena to leave Orlando. Serious people. More than once.
She stayed.

And her talk, Goosebumps Are Data, is about why that decision made all the sense in the world once she understood what this city was actually built to do.

Orlando has always been in the business of engineering the moment when something moves from idea to feeling. From vision to full body recognition that something real is happening. The human focused tech being built here right now touches everything from tourism and hospitality to space and defense.

This city does not just build products. It builds experiences that live in the body.

Sheena sees that with a clarity that stopped me in my tracks.

There is something about watching someone light up when they talk about a place. The joy she carries when she shares this vision is not performance. It is pure. It is the kind of enthusiasm that makes you lean in and think, wait, tell me more.

I love this city. I feel the magic here every single day. And Sheena is the person who can tell you exactly why that magic is not an accident.

She stayed because Orlando kept doing something she could not explain and could not ignore.

Turns out, that is exactly what it was designed to do.

We are 4 speakers in with more announcements coming. Community voting is open and you have a real say in this lineup. 🌞

The community vote for VOICES Orlando is live. And your voice is the one that decides what gets said on that stage.

Six speakers made it through an open call, a full application, and a curation conversation. Now it is your turn. Select two. Tell us which story Orlando needs to hear on April 25th.

Voting closes April 3rd. Vote link is in the comments.

Here is how we got here.
103 people raised their hand when we opened the call. 32 went further and submitted a full in-depth application. From there we had real conversations with the people behind the applications. Their energy, their conviction, the way their eyes lit up when they talked about their idea.

Every person in this round belongs on a stage. Not just this one. A stage. The work they are doing, the ideas they are carrying, the stories they are ready to tell are all real and worthy and needed.

What we are not asking you to decide is who is good enough. That question has already been answered.

We are asking you which story you need to hear right now.

Your candidates are:
Keith Greiveldinger, MBA, Debora Mendonça, Caris Baker, Scott Millson, Meridith Hankenson Alexander and her daughter Schuyler, & Kelsey Evans-Amalu, PhD

As much as an event producer will always shape a room, the best rooms are built by the people who are going to sit in them. VOICES was always meant to belong to Orlando. This is what that looks like in practice.

Voting closes April 3rd. Vote link in my bio. Go tell us what this city needs to hear. 🌞🎟️
