UPenn Prevention Research Center The University of Pennsylvania Prevention Research Center (UPenn PRC) is a community-engaged research center founded in 2014.

Our mission is to improve the health of people in PHL, SE PA, & beyond by preventing, reducing, & treating chronic diseases. The UPenn PRC team is dedicated to promoting well-being, health equity, research translation, and evaluation of population-based and sustainable community health and clinical interventions.

Calling Community Organizations, Advocates & Research Partners!

Join us for Community-Driven Research Day 2026 — a convening designed to spark meaningful partnerships between community-based organizations and researchers working to address pressing public health issues.

Community-based organizations and community groups are invited to submit a poster proposal highlighting the research questions you want to explore through partnership. Poster presenters are eligible to apply for up to $10,000 for one year of pilot research funding in collaboration with an academic research partner.

Exciting news! CDC awards $20M to academic institutions nationwide for a new Prevention Research Centers funding cycle.

With FY24 funding, 20 PRCs will focus on research that helps turn scientific knowledge into public health practices to prevent chronic diseases like heart disease, obesity, and cancer.

We are delighted to share exciting news about the UPenn Prevention Research Center (PRC). Dr. Karen Glanz and her colleagues recently received a major new federal grant that spans multiple departments and schools.

The national PRC Network includes 20 CDC-funded Centers in the 2024-2029 cycle. The goal of the PRC program is to fund academic research centers conducting community-based prevention and public health research.
