Butch-Femme Oral History Project I started the Butch-Femme Oral History Project while writing my dissertation about le***an culture in the mid-20th century U.S. from Rutgers University.

I have since completed the dissertation, "Risking Everything for That Touch: Butch-Femme Le***an Culture in NYC from World War II to Women's Liberation," and received my Ph.D. I met and interviewed many incredible women during this process and will donate my collection of oral histories and memorabilia to the Le***an Herstory Archives. I hope this page can be a space to share resources, histories, celebrations, anger, and intergenerational dialogue about the enduring power of butch-femme.
