Temple University South Asian Students Society - SASS

SASS is open to any student, faculty or alumni, and our mission is to achieve unity through the strength and development of our community. Thank you.

The South Asian Students Society of Temple University is open to any student, faculty or alumni who is passionate about the rich South Asian Culture, and shares the belief that achieving peace and unity between the South Asian regions and its people - regardless of where they are - is paramount. An organization is only as strong as the dedication of its members, and we hope that TU SASS becomes an

influential part of the Greater Philadelphia area. Our mission is to achieve unity through the strength and development of our community. The purpose of this organization is to build a strong community by bringing together all South Asian and non-South Asian students, faculty and alumni at Temple University who share a strong passion for the rich and diverse South Asian culture. We aim to break the divide between those from different South Asian backgrounds by encouraging collaborative efforts with other cultural student organizations, coming together for community service events that benefit the South Asian region, and providing a support network for all our members. We hope to not only spread South Asia’s vibrant culture across campus, but also educate those around us about the social and political issues facing the South Asian region and its people. India is currently facing a second wave of covid cases with record high numbers. Due to the increase in cases, hospitals are currently overflowing and running low on oxygen supplies. With over 300,000 new cases a day, crowds of people are lined up waiting for medical help and millions are afraid to even leave their homes to get necessities such as food.

Temple SASS, Drexel SASA (), PennState SASA (), Temple One Health (), DesignPhilly (.philly), St. John’s ISSO (), and Rutgers DIYA () will be collaborating in an initiative to raise money for Feeding India (), to supply food, oxygen tanks, and other supplies for the country in need.

All funds will be collected on May 2, Sunday. Venmo all donations to . Hoping you all can participate to shed some light during these troubling times.

We, Temple SASS, along with Drexel SASA, Temple Agni, Broad Street Baadshahz, and Temple PSA, will be collecting funds to support those and their families affected by the Farmer's Protest in India, through KhalsaAid. To donate, Venmo any amount with the caption "KhalsaAid Donation." Collections will end on March 3rd! Reach out to us if with any questions or concerns!
