Dear community,
This year, over 600 people put their names in for just 200 summer retreat spots. While we are thrilled that so many people want to partake, we are deeply saddened year after year that we have to turn away so many in our beloved community from the nourishment of song, spirit and community.Â
And so, last year we decided: No more. We need to grow our offerings to meet the demand so that more people can sing with us, learn together, and support one another through such devastating times.Â
After a year of community input, cycles of draft plans, and feedback we are so excited to reveal to you our plan for the next five years of Let My People Sing!
Together, we’ve set bold goals for the future of Jewish song:
• Nourish three times as many people by 2030 through larger and more frequent in-person offerings
• Strengthen song culture in dozens of existing Jewish communities across the country
• Expand the mainstream canon of Jewish song to include more Jewish lineages and new music
As wise community members have shared, singing together is how our ancestors resourced themselves through unspeakable pain and through the depths of the unknown. We need more space to strengthen our collective capacity to weather the storm - to metabolize the pains and joys of the moment, together.Â
Join us to learn how we plan to widen our breadth, while maintaining the same quality of care and commitment to each other. Link in bio to register and learn more (recording will be sent to those who register and can’t join us live).Â
With excitement,
Batya, Margot and Serena
