🌊A few glimpses of R’vaya song circles…

💙Over the past few weeks, communities around the country opened their homes and hearts for R’vaya song circles in support of Let My People Sing!, raising funds for more Jewish communal singing, more learning, more spiritual nourishment, and more spaces where people can show up fully as themselves.

🤲Thank you for supporting LMPS - our cups are fuller because of you!

👉There’s still time to support the R’vaya fundraising drive! Truly, any size gift makes a huge difference. $5, $15, $150. It’s not about the size of the donation, it’s about the number of individual gifts we receive that will tell us that together, we got this. Link in bio to give!

🎶Songs for the Soul is an affinity space for Jews of Color to explore the intersections of their ancestral lineages through song. This 5-part virtual series, facilitated by rabbi dr. koach baruch frazier and Maggid Marques Hollie, will creatively engage with tehillim, the psalms, by connecting with our ancestral lineages to create rooted, personal niggunim and songs. This series will offer opportunities for ancestral reflection and connection, community-building with other Jews of Color, and bringing our whole selves to the pages of the prayer book. We can’t wait to sing with you.

👀POV: you’re in a room where everyone is singing, all kinds of voices rising up in homemade harmony, feeling the communal strength that only song can bring…

🌱This is what we are trying to grow at LMPS. If you’ve been in the room with us, you know we want folks to walk away with more than a new tune or stronger voice, but real tools needed to create powerful, nourishing Jewish singing spaces in their home communities.

🙌And what we’re hearing is clear: people are hungry for this kind of connection and learning. But we can’t meet these needs without more support.

💙If you believe in the power of communal singing, help us grow this work through the R’vaya Resource Drive.

💙When we think of community here at LMPS, we think of singing together. And so we wanted to try something new: A virtual benefit song circle with some of our beloved teachers!

🎵Join Dodie Whitaker, Ary Solomon, and Batya Levine for an hour of music and community support. They’ll sing, and you’ll think about who in your life would want to support abundant Jewish music, vibrant singing culture, and transformative community-making. Or you can just come to listen :)

🌱We still have $43,278 left to raise to reach our $50,000 goal. If we do make our goal, then we can provide thousands of people with the nourishment of connecting with community, ancestral connection and song over the next 3-5 years. Nourishment that is so needed during times like these.Thank you for enabling this project to exist and grow, year after year. We could not do this without you.

đź’™ It is with great excitement and humility that we share our official five-year strategic plan. Check it out to learn:
🔎 The full scope of what Let My People Sing! really does and why
🎶 How we plan to reach 3x as many people
👀 What it will take to get there

💡This plan was born from years of feedback and conversations with our community. But it can’t happen without increased financial support. Simply put: We need to raise $150,000 than we did last year.

🌱 That’s why our 2nd annual peer-to-peer fundraising drive, The R’vaya Resource Drive, is more important than ever. Together we’re working to raise $50,000 before the end of the Hebrew month of Iyar, on May 17.

🌊 R’vaya comes from a phrase in Psalm 23 - kosi r’vaya, “my cup overflows,” and speaks to the incredible abundance in our community.

We are so excited for what we will build together! Support the drive using the link in our bio!

With gratitude,
Batya, Margot and Serena

❤️‍🩹 For the past three months, the Twin Cities have been a testing ground for the rise of fascism through Operation Metro Surge, the largest immigration enforcement operation in U.S. history. From intricate mutual aid systems, to utilizing singing as a form of resistance, to highly effective rapid response networks, and so much more, neighbors have shown up in droves to support neighbors targeted by the operation.

🌀 Join voices on the ground in Minneapolis for an afternoon of song, stories and skills to strengthen our collective capacity to respond to these times. We’ll be grounding in song and sharing lessons learned along the way. Featuring Ricardo Levins Morales, R. Jessica Rosenberg, Margot Seigle, Bex Klafter, Miri Villerius, Kestrel Feiner-Homer, and Kohenet Riv Shapiro. Link in bio to register!

⏳The Omer offers a holy and sweet structure for creative practice, reflection, and spiritual nourishment. Join Molly Bajgot and Aly Halpert during the seven week period between Passover and Shavuot, for a weekly practice of singing, exploring the sephira* of the week, and connecting these themes to our own lives.

🌀We’ll get in touch with the creative spark of the Divine in ourselves by making time for creation – journaling, writing songs, doodling, making art, dancing, etc. – with the support of online community. Come to all seven sessions as part of an Omer practice, or join when you can! Link bio to register!

➡️ Sliding Scale $ 150-360+ (No one turned away for lack of funds**) Recordings will be available to participants. Live Captioning available upon request by Monday, March 23rd.

*Sephira/Sephirot are gd-like qualities applied to the 7 weeks of the omer (i.e. lovingkindness, boundaries, harmony, etc.)

Dear community,

This year, over 600 people put their names in for just 200 summer retreat spots. While we are thrilled that so many people want to partake, we are deeply saddened year after year that we have to turn away so many in our beloved community from the nourishment of song, spirit and community.

And so, last year we decided: No more. We need to grow our offerings to meet the demand so that more people can sing with us, learn together, and support one another through such devastating times.

After a year of community input, cycles of draft plans, and feedback we are so excited to reveal to you our plan for the next five years of Let My People Sing!

Together, we’ve set bold goals for the future of Jewish song:
• Nourish three times as many people by 2030 through larger and more frequent in-person offerings
• Strengthen song culture in dozens of existing Jewish communities across the country
• Expand the mainstream canon of Jewish song to include more Jewish lineages and new music

As wise community members have shared, singing together is how our ancestors resourced themselves through unspeakable pain and through the depths of the unknown. We need more space to strengthen our collective capacity to weather the storm - to metabolize the pains and joys of the moment, together.

Join us to learn how we plan to widen our breadth, while maintaining the same quality of care and commitment to each other. Link in bio to register and learn more (recording will be sent to those who register and can’t join us live).

With excitement,
Batya, Margot and Serena
