Established in 2013 , the Stargazer Brass Quintet plays a wide variety of engaging music from all time periods -- from classical and show tunes to more contemporary jazz and pop arrangements. Our members come from Delaware a
nd Pennsylvania and we perform throughout the Delaware Valley. Michael Goodkin (Trumpet) is a retired cardiologist. He played for 14 years with Chester County Concert Band and 8 years with Covenant Brass. He's done church work, played for musicals and mentored high school students to All State 9 times. Mike has recently designed a randomized trial of personal emboucher training exerciser for middle school brass players. Mike's favorite pieces tend to be classical works and ballads. Wood (Trumpet) is a native of Northern New Jersey, where an older brother first taught him how to play trumpet. He's played in ensembles from the Midwest to Australia, where he was a member of the City of Sydney Concert Band. In 2015, he even served as the official track bugler for opening weekend of the fall meet of Belmont Park in NY. Chuck Shorten (Tuba) started his musical career on trumpet, but switched to tuba at the suggestion of band director, and he's never looked back. In his day job, he's a professor at West Chester University. Ted Lenthe (Trombone) is a life-long resident of the Philadelphia suburbs. He's been a low brass player for more than 50 years, starting with baritone horn/euphonium and later taking up the trombone. An electrical engineer specializing in microcircuits by vocation, music performance and music reproduction remain his primary passion. With his children now in 3 time zones, he has more time to devote to musical activities. He even sees his wife from time to time at their West Chester home. Stephanie Przybylek (French Horn) has played French horn since fifth grade, when a high school music teacher offered to loan a free instrument. A native of Western Pennsylvania, she's a past participant in PA All-State Band and Orchestra programs, and has traveled to Hawaii and San Francisco with band programs. She's played in large and small ensembles in Upstate New York, Southern New Jersey and Delaware.
