Lauren is a 2025 graduate of Pocahontas High School and is the daughter of Melanie and Casey Chester of Pocahontas. She's pursuing a degree in nursing.

The Candy Emporium Scholarship in Memory of Marty Powers funded by The Candy Emporium is made possible through the 2025 BRTC Foundation Golf Tournament headlined by Proventus. The 4-Star sponsorship package enables donors to offer a $1,000 scholarship to a BRTC student the following fall.

Big news from BRTC's Practical Nursing program! 🎉

According to the National Council of State Boards of Nursing's official 2025-2026 program report, our PN program ranked #1 out of 24 Arkansas programs and #1 out of 1,221 programs nationally among programs with at least 10 first-time test-takers, landing in the 100th percentile with a 100% NCLEX-PN pass rate. This marks the second year in a row our program has hit the 100th percentile.

Destiny is a 2017 graduate of Sloan-Hendrix High School and is the daughter of Michele Davis of Imboden and Ralph Miller of Pocahontas. Destiny is married to Cody Bailey and they have one child, Carter. She's pursuing a degree in nursing.

Congratulations to Madison Johnston of Pocahontas, recipient of the Ken and Jan Ziegler Bridging the Gap Scholarship! 🎓

Madison is a 2026 graduate of Pocahontas High School and is the daughter of Anna and Tanner Johnston. She's pursuing a degree in agriculture/animal science.

The Ken and Jan Ziegler Bridging the Gap Scholarship was created to help close the gap for first-time-entering freshman students relying on loans or paying out-of-pocket. This scholarship helps assist these students in completing their desired career certificate or degree by funding their tuition and fees each semester, provided the student maintains GPA and enrollment requirements.

Black River Technical College is seeing its largest enrollment increase in over 30 years, preliminary numbers show a 29% jump in fall semester enrollment compared to last year!

"BRTC's tremendous enrollment growth reflects the hard work of our faculty and staff, strong partnerships with area high schools, and the opportunities created by the ACCESS Act," said VP of Student Affairs Jason Smith.

We're proud of our faculty, staff, and high school partners for building meaningful pathways for students across our region!
