Today, American flags will be displayed across campus in observance of Flag Day.

At College of the Ozarks, the flag is a daily reminder of our nation's heritage and those who have defended it. We are grateful for the freedoms it represents and the opportunity to pass that appreciation on to future generations.

This summer, Jennifer Pottinger, a senior hospitality management and event management double major, is serving as a Guest Services and Lodging Intern at The Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove in Asheville, North Carolina.

From checking in guests and creating lodging budgets to learning the day-to-day operations of a retreat center, Jennifer is gaining hands-on experience while serving guests from around the country.

One of the most meaningful parts of her internship has been participating in a training led by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association's Rapid Response Team, where interns learned how to share hope with people facing crisis.

"I think it will help me both in my future vocation and in my life in general," Jennifer shared. "I've even already had the opportunity to put it to use."

Jennifer credits her time at College of the Ozarks for helping prepare her for the opportunity. Lessons from the classroom, combined with experience gained through Keeter Catering and Residence Life, have helped her develop the attention to detail, professionalism, teamwork, and servant-minded approach she uses every day.

As she looks toward life after graduation, Jennifer says the internship has provided more than professional experience.

"I'm starting to see more clarity in what God is calling me to after college," she said. "Clarity that wouldn't have come to me from any other experience."
