The 1748 House is home to 4-5 international & American university students and young adults that desire to live in Community as they discover how their lives and gifts can best serve the world around them. We currently house women only. Owner/Directors Vic & Kathy Varis provide a safe home environment where people from all worldviews are welcome, and where young adults can experience cross-cultura
l living together. The 1748 House is also Portland office for Chi Alpha Internationals, a partnering agency with FOCUS (Friends of Overseas Citizens & University Students) serving Portland State University and metro area campuses. Vic & Kathy have been members of the co-director Leadership Team of FOCUS since 1995. Chi Alpha Internationals is a religious tax exempt non-profit organization, and Vic & Kathy's salary is provided by contributions of individuals that believe in serving students studying in Portland.
