★SPRING WEEKEND AFTER DARK pt. 2★
♫ VITO + DRUZZI (The Rapture DJs) ♫
The Rapture were an indie rock band based in New York City. The band's final line-up consisted of lead vocalist/guitarist Luke Jenner, drummer/percussionist Vito Roccoforte and keyboardist/saxophonist/bassist/percussionist Gabriel Andruzzi. The band mixed influences from an array of genres including post-punk, acid house, disco, electronica and rock. They were forerunners of the post-punk revival of the early 2000s, as they mixed their early post-punk sound with electronic and dance elements.
♫ BIXEL BOYS ♫
Founded on Downtown Los Angeles' rooftops and raised in Venice, CA basements, Bixel Boys experiment with sounds inspired by everything from R&B vocals to deep house to trap percussion; creating a high energy vibe free from common genre labels. Their first original release on Australia’s Sweat It Out Records garnered widespread critical acclaim and acts such as Fedde Le Grande, A-Trak, and Treasure Fingers have not only pushed the record on their respective radio shows but also have been seen dropping the EP’s title track at major dance festivals such as Sensation White and TomorrowWorld. Their originals are all high energy festival bangers and their blog friendly remixes have bounced all throughout the blogosphere as well as the top 10 on Hypem.
♫ THE RANGE ♫
The Range is James Hinton, 25, of Providence, RI. He’s been making music since he was 13, first on a little Fostex machine recording looped drums and synthesizer. While studying Physics at Brown University, he started making electronic music full time under the alias Stegosaurus, producing two albums under that moniker, ‘Quill’ and ‘Cower’ in 2009 and 2010 respectively. In the mid 2010 he started making music as The Range, drawing from more percussive footwork sounds.
♫ TUKKER ♫
Hailing from Boston, MA, Tucker Halpern took flight early in his career by opening for the likes of Plastic Plates, Le Youth and The Knocks after only a few short months behind the decks. Tucker emerged as a favorite in the Brown/Providence scene and although he's played under several aliases, he has taken the name TUKKER for his upcoming releases and shows. His sound blends future and deep house with a focus on live instruments and analog sounds.
