The students of the Ice Carving Club, along with their advisor Chef Thomas Barnes, braved the cold temperatures this weekend to carve their annual Groundhog Day sculptures. Check out the ice carvings at the Academy in person if you’re in town this week. Happy Groundhog Day!

Last week at the PA Farm Show, students from the IUP Academy of Culinary Arts took part in a friendly culinary competition. The first‑place team included Garrett Eckley, Lane Hawk, Mason Kowal, and Rayvon Miley. The second‑place team included Indiana Ebersole, Kaydan Pease, Juliana Shane, and Abigail Wolford. A big congratulations to both teams for their impressive work and well‑earned recognition.

Earlier this week the IUP Academy of Culinary Arts students were featured on abc27 News Daybreak at the PA Farm Show showcasing their culinary skills during a Breakfast Potato Cookoff. Participating students included Indiana Ebersole, Garrett Eckley, Lane Hawk, and Mason Kowal.

The IUP Academy of Culinary Arts Students are taking the stage at the PA Preferred Culinary Connection Stage during the 2026 Pennsylvania Farm Show! They will be cooking live and showcasing their skills using ingredients. Join them in person or tune in virtually to watch the action unfold on Tuesday, January 13th at 5 pm.

They will also be featured on abc27 News Daybreak between 6 and 7am on Tuesday.
