Students from Willits High School traveled all the way to Shasta College to get a hands-on look at our Forest Health pathways and what college life is really like! 🌲🔥

They sat in on our Introduction to Wildland Fire and Beginning Forestry classes with Karine Hunt, heard from our Heavy Equipment instructor, visited the farm and wood products course area, toured the Fire Academy, and even got behind the controls of our logging and truck driving simulators.

Nothing beats real-world experience when exploring future career pathways! đź’Şđźšśđźš’

Natural Resources CTE Field Day at Horsetown-Clear Creek Preserve

Our Forest Health team and Forest Resilience Student Ambassador recently joined the Western Shasta RCD for their Natural Resources CTE Field Day at Horsetown-Clear Creek Preserve. High school students explored key topics including fire ecology, water resources, forestry, and pollinators & botany.

Did you know? Shasta College offers an A.S. in Forest Science & Technology, an A.S. in Natural Resources, and a Certificate in Natural Resources—giving students multiple pathways into the field.

While students build a strong foundation in the classroom, they also spend plenty of time learning outdoors—because some of the best lessons happen in the field.

Shasta View Academy AGNR-1 dual enrollment students got a firsthand look at our logging students in action! They learned all about HELO and CRAFT apprenticeship from our instructor, Jonas Lindblom.

Our first Forestry Open House was a success 🌲

In partnership with Siskiyou Works and the Western Shasta RCD, we welcomed students from Mt. Shasta, W**d, McCloud, and Hayfork for a day of hands-on experiences and exploration.

Getting students out of the classroom and into the field—this is what it’s all about.

We had the opportunity to host the California Conservation Corps on campus this March 🌲

CCC members explored hands-on experiences across multiple pathways.

Exposure leads to opportunity—and this is where it starts.

March kept us moving!

From connecting with students from the FFA State Conference to time spent out at the Redwood Region Logging Conference, it was all about showing up, sharing opportunities and building connections.

And moments like this remind us, it’s bigger than just one moment in time.

Ray Page, a Shasta College alum from 1959, stopped by to say hello…now 86 and still proudly representing. More from March coming this week!
