We are a Registered Student Organization and professional fraternity for those in the Risk Management & Insurance field.

Senior Brooke Baker shares her experience with the GIS Regional Conference in Richmond, VA:

“As I approach graduation, I was happy to attend one last Gamma Iota Sigma conference as part of the Upsilon Chapter!

The Regional Conference in Richmond, VA offered a job fair, an excellent and informative presentation by CEO Joel Wood, insightful sessions such as risk management on university campuses, networking with other chapters, and the chance to travel and reconnect once again!

Being a member of GIS has opened up so many possibilities and opportunities, and I’m eternally grateful for the connections and support it’s provided to me. I’m looking forward to following along on the organization’s growth as more students recognize the value of the industry!”

We had a wonderful time at the Regional Conference in Richmond, VA, representing the Upsilon Chapter from MI! It was great meeting you all, and learning about the current insurance environment from Joel Wood, how premium pricing works, risk management considerations at college campuses, and how emotional intelligence affects our daily lives!

For the members of GIS Upsilon, the past month has been packed with activity!

On October 17, there was an induction of 3 new impactful insurance professionals into the “MI Insurance Hall of Fame”. GIS members enjoyed a dinner and ceremony in Lansing, and received inspiration from one of the Inductees, Mike McBride, who is a Ferris/RMIN Program Alum. Congrats Mike!

On November 12, some other members attended the Detroit RIMS Meeting held in Meijer’s HQ in Grand Rapids. The discussion was surrounding the timely topic of the election’s impact on the economy!

Excited to see what other opportunities lie ahead for us Bulldogs!

On May 5-8, Gamma Members Brooke and Brady attended RISKWORLD in San Diego. It was a wonderful time - lots of networking, educational sessions, receptions, and more!

On August 7th and 8th leaders of Gamma chapters all across the country met up in Columbus, OH for the leadership symposium.
Brooke Baker represented the Upsilon Chapter of Ferris State University. Here are some pictures from the event!

⭐️Member Spotlight - Devante Bedford, Maggie VanDusen, and David Seaver! ⭐️

We have 3 seniors that will be graduating today with a Bachelor’s in Risk Management and Insurance. Here’s a little insight on what they’ll be doing…

🟠Devante will be starting the Agent Aspirant Program and opening his own agency soon. He has already been fully licensed and has been leading his employer agency in sales. His favorite part about Ferris is all of the memories and friends made along the way.

🟡Maggie will be working as an underwriter in Southeast, MI. She will be graduating with a minor in Information Security and Intelligence. Outside of Gamma, she served in Delta Zeta, Order of Omega, and Panhellenic Council. Her favorite part about Ferris are the opportunities to be involved and gain leadership experience.

⚫️David will be starting a position as a Life Insurance Advisor at New York Life. He was also the VP of this chapter for the past 4 semesters. His favorite part about Ferris is having the opportunity to be a part of the Risk Management program.

Have a great graduation day Devante, Maggie and David! We will miss you all! Thank you for being a part of Gamma! 🎓
