Technically, Christopher Hoolihan is retired, but you'd never know it by how much he's still around! He is librarian emeritus of Rare Books and Manuscripts at the University of Rochester Medical Center after spending 34 years managing the History of Medicine Section. Chris continues to be passionate about serving the collection and is still on site several times a week to help process collections and catalog materials.

Chris is this year’s Metzdorf Award winner, a prestigious award presented by the Friends of the University of Rochester Libraries (FURL) to those who distinguish themselves with contributions and meritorious service to the libraries. On receiving his award at the FURL reception (pictured here), Chris stated that he “loved every minute” of his time at Edward G. Miner Library. We are so fortunate to continue to have Chris around and to have such an incredible mentor and exemplar of medical history librarianship!
