Out of an abundance of caution consistent with public health recommendations and best practices, the 2020 Northland ACSM Spring Tutorial and Student Research Showcase scheduled for Friday, April 3 has been cancelled.

As per ACSM meeting cancellation policy, all individuals currently registered for the meeting will receive full refunds via check within 8 weeks. For those institutions who registered through the group registration process, Heather Turner from ACSM will contact you directly with additional refund information.

For individuals who had made hotel reservations at the conference hotel, the Fairfield Inn & Suites is cancelling all reservations made under the group block rate "Northland ACSM", penalty free.

For individuals who had submitted abstracts, please note that due to the cancellation, no prize money will be awarded.

The need to cancel is disappointing, but given the unprecedented circumstances, it is the logical decision to make. There is a lot of behind the scenes work that occurs prior to a meeting, so I would like to publicly acknowledge and thank the following individuals for all the work and preparation in planning the Spring Meeting - Past-President Jill Nustad, Concordia-St. Paul Site Supervisor Sam Haag, and Student Research Coordinator Kelley Phillips.

Concordia University, St. Paul will be hosting the Spring Meeting for the Northland Chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) on Friday, April 3. This is a great opportunity for students interested in exercise and applied health sciences. Student registration options include:

- Registration for current Northland Chapter student members: $15
- Registration plus 1-year student membership in the chapter: $30
- Registration for Spring Meeting only (no chapter membership): $10 - this option is only available to CSP students, contact Dr. Haag ([email protected]) for more information

The KHS department is also looking for student volunteers to help with organizing and running the event, including check-in/registration tables, set-up/take-down, providing directions on campus, etc. Undergraduate KHS student volunteers may earn 1 internship credit. ACSM CECs: The American College of Sports Medicine’s Professional Education Committee certifies that the Northland Spring Meeting meets the criteria for a maximum of 3.0 hours of ACSM continuing education credits.

Skyhawks focuses on year round sports camps for children ages 2-14. They are currently interviewing and hiring coaches, directors, and interns for summer programs. The summer team will have first hand experience coaching young children in a variety of sports.
Interns will receive a tailored program to fit their individual needs and requirements for their major. Interns will get the chance to see how the business is run, how programming a large sports company works, plus marketing, sales, and customer service experience.
Interview dates are scheduled for March 15th and April 10th.

LCMS has internships for Concordia Plan Services. The internships will take place from June 1st through July 31st. They will be offering $15 per hour and will pay for relocation housing for the duration of the internship. These internships also offer the potential to be a gateway into the Company after graduation. Positions include Marketing/Creative Team, Market Research, Disability and Survivor Services, and Health Services.
