On behalf of the students of Utah, we want to express our deep sadness at the loss of Lauren McCluskey at the University of Utah on Monday, October 23, 2018. We will continue to keep Lauren’s family and friends, and the University of Utah’s student body, faculty, and staff in our thoughts and prayers as they begin healing from Monday’s tragedy. Thank you to all who joined us yesterday in wearing red to show our solidarity with the University of Utah!

For all students, please remember that there are several resources available to you on your campus that are ready to offer comfort, guidance, and counseling in the midst of this hard time. Below are the phone numbers of the counseling and psychological centers of each higher education institution in Utah. The SafeUT app is also a great resource if you or someone you know would like to speak with a counselor.

With Mental Health as our Initiative this year, it is our goal to unify the students of Utah and stop the wait time for students needing to receive help. Talk to your student body president if you're interested in writing a note to your "future" self for someone else to receive at their lowest point. Let's spread the love!

This weekend, students from throughout the state of Utah lobbied for Mental Health at Higher Education Day on Capitol Hill. We are making such great progress and not only has the state recognized the need for more attention to Mental Health resources, they are doing something about it!

We are beyond excited to announce the mental health resolution moving forward in legislature!

First, please follow this resolution and if you feel inclined, call your legislators to tell them about what this resolution means to you. The more support we have now, the more we can do next year.

Second, don't forget we can all be advocates TODAY! If you are interested in helping with our 3rd annual Mental Health Week at USU contact me. There is always room for more ideas and more helping hands. We have shown that we are stronger together than divided.
