Rising juniors and seniors! Scheduling out the remaining 2026 test dates can help you plan your tutoring timeline and college app submission.๐Ÿ—“๏ธ Hereโ€™s a list of the remaining 2026 test dates:

โ˜‘๏ธ SAT:
June 6th
August 22nd
September 12th
October 3rd
November 7th
December 5th

โ˜‘๏ธ ACT:
June 13th
July 11th
September 19th
October 17th
December 12th

๐Ÿšจ If youโ€™re a rising JUNIOR, we recommend taking advantage of the upcoming summer to embrace test prep! Itโ€™s often easier for students to focus on tutoring without full-time high school obligations competing for your attention. This also gives you lots of room to re-take the test if you want to keep chasing a top score!๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ

๐Ÿšจ If youโ€™re a rising SENIOR, we recommend taking your standardized tests ASAP. Colleges have different application deadlines, and some practice rolling admissions, so the sooner you can have a complete application that includes a test score, the better!๐Ÿ‘€

Summer is fast approaching, which means college application prep is about to be in full swing! ๐ŸŒŠ If youโ€™re a rising senior, itโ€™s time to get serious about narrowing down your college list. ๐Ÿค”

Thereโ€™s one helpful way you can whittle down your list and make it manageable: lining up your academic profile with admissions stats at different colleges to see where you match up. Weโ€™ll spend the next few weeks breaking down the test score policies and ranges for some of the colleges that are most popular with our students, starting with Texas schools! ๐Ÿค

University of Texas at Austin ๐Ÿค˜๐Ÿผ
- Test-mandatory policy
- SAT score between 1320 and 1530 (middle 50 percentile), or an ACT score between 29 and 34 (middle 50 percentile), according to US News and World Report

Rice University ๐Ÿฆ‰
- Test-recommended policy
- SAT score between 1510 and 1560 (middle 50 percentile), or an ACT score between 34 and 36 (middle 50 percentile), according to university website

Southern Methodist University ๐ŸŽ
- Test-optional policy
- SAT score between 1340 and 1480 (middle 50 percentile), or an ACT score between 31 and 34 (middle 50 percentile), according to university website

Every student, and therefore every application, is unique. But no matter the collegeโ€™s test policy, a standardized test score in-range signals to admissions officers that you could be a strong addition to their class. ๐Ÿซก

When an admissions officer opens your application file, theyโ€™re working through a checklist in their head.๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ’ญ Hereโ€™s what theyโ€™re usually thinking about:

๐Ÿ“‹ Academics & Test Score: Given what classes your school offered, did you challenge yourself? Do your course choices match where you say you want to go and what you want to major in? How does your SAT/ACT score fit the rest of your academic picture?

๐Ÿ… Activities & Honors: What have you actually committed to? What did your involvement look like beyond just showing up?

๐Ÿ“ Personal Statement: Who are you beyond the data? What do I now know about you that I couldnโ€™t have learned anywhere else in this file?

โœ‰๏ธ Recommendations: What do the adults in your life say about you?

๐Ÿซ Demonstrated Interest: Has this student actually engaged with our school?

๐Ÿ’ฐ Financial Aid: Can the school make this work financially?

โž• Additional Information: Is there context I need to fully understand this studentโ€™s story? (This is also where students can address unique academic or testing circumstances.)

Every component of your application is a chance to add to your story, so donโ€™t repeat yourself! Work to highlight different strengths in each section.๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ“‘

Common App, the predominant college application platform, regularly releases data on the state of first-year application trends. Their latest data runs through March 1, and here are some of the highlights:

1๏ธโƒฃ Applicant and application counts grew. As of March 1, 1,429,747 first-year applicants had applied to 911 colleges, a 2% increase from this date last year.๐Ÿ“ˆ

2๏ธโƒฃ The Southwestern region grew at nearly twice the rate (8%) of the next fastest-growing region, largely due to states like Texas and Oklahoma. Texas continues to outpace other large states in applicant growth (7%).๐Ÿค

3๏ธโƒฃ The majority of students reported standardized test scores with their applications this year. The number of applicants reporting a test score has continued to grow since the 2021-22 cycle, with a 10% increase among reporters and a 6% decrease among non-reporters.๐Ÿ“

This data reveals a few important things. More and more Texans are applying to schools via the Common App. And more and more students applying via Common App are including SAT/ACT scores in their applications; they are now the majority.โ€ผ๏ธ๐Ÿ‘€

A great test score is becoming more and more important to stay competitive in your college applications. Visit U-BOUND.com to schedule your test prep consultation today; weโ€™re gearing up for August SAT prep!!โ˜€๏ธ๐ŸŒŠ (Link in bio.๐Ÿ”—)
