Rescued! Remember that building you might have driven by, or maybe that barn in the middle of that pasture? Remember thinking, what is anyone going to do with that crap? We think–gold mine! Deconstructed buildings, shipping materials, bleachers, wine casks–you name it, wood is our jam. Gorgeous pieces like these ones from a fence just need a little TLC. These boards might not look like much now, but once we’ve de-nailed, milled, and prepped them, they’ll soon become something gorgeous - a table, wall art, maybe a fence filled with character, or even a massive 3-D art installation. Function or art? We say both. Create useful art.

Restore. Reuse. Revive.

Repurposedgrain is honored to be working in collaboration with Kate Webster for this years San Francisco Showcase!

Facet, a collaborative installation with Kate Webster for the 2015 San Francisco Decorator Showcase is a wood sculpture. The artwork was designed and created to resonate with the existing architecture of the Presidio Heights mansion, and be reminiscent of the mansion owners themselves. We wanted the viewer to be able to move through this 20’ x 8’ sculpture, and not only see the transition, but feel the movement of the piece, inviting one's imagination . Featuring unique angles—bending, winding, and twisting—Facet curves like a roller coaster, taking your eyes from 2-Dimensional to 3 Dimensional and back again. The surrounding landscape echoes the sharp points, strong lines, and exotic shapes, creating a balanced piece, thus composing a living, breathing and harmonious work of art.

What is the Decorator Showcase? Only the West Coast’s premier design event, featuring work from some of the region’s top interior and landscape designers. Started in 1977 the Decorator Showcase is one big elegant and inspiring fundraiser, supporting the San Francisco University High School (UHS) financial aid program, raising $13.5 million since it started, with more than 550 participating designers over the past 38 years. This year’s target? A Presidio Heights mansion, located at 3630 Jackson Street, in San Francisco, CA.
