Our Girl Scout campout to Malibu Creek State Park is rapidly approaching! We will be camping January 20-22, departing Poly afterschool on Friday. We will plan our trip during the upcoming GS meeting on January 12.
We will earn badges and go hiking or mountain biking.
Please reply to this email (reply to me only) so we can get a headcount and answer the following:
a) Is your GS joining us?
b) Would you like to attend and volunteer to help on the trip?
c) If your daughter is attending, will she bring a bike?
We will hold one planning meeting before the event: January 12, 3-4:30 pm (Poly Strings Room) - girls plan camping activities and set camp schedule, meal planning, packing list, answer questions
Trip Details:
Jan 20-22 (depart Poly after school at 3pm- return to Poly at ~12pm)- Overnight camping trip to Malibu Creek State Park. We have reserved a group camp site and there is plenty of room for anyone wanting to join. Parents attending need to complete GS Volunteer Registration Form and get clearance prior to attending the event. Siblings may attend, but no boys over the age of 10. Please email me separately if you would like to include a sibling.
Transportation: we will meet in the lower level parking garage at Poly to organize our cars and pack gear after school on 1/20.
Activities: Activities will be organized by the girls at the 1/12 meeting and hosted by the parent volunteers
Food: The girls will cook their food in girl-led patrols of 5-8 girls. The adults will have our own food patrol. The girls will plan their meals at the 1/12 meeting, divide up the food for purchase between them, shop for the food and bring food to the campout.
Sleeping: Girls will sleep together in a few large tents (seeking tents to borrow) - or with their parent, if preferred. Girls will not be allowed to tent with a parent other than their own. Jean and Karen will sleep in a tent near the girls tents in case of any troubles during the night.
Cost is TBD based on how many girls will attend. We will estimate this by the meeting on 1/12. We will keep this low by asking for reimbursement for the campground registration fee... and little else. We will have the patrols provide their own food and breakup the cost among their group.
We hope you will join us on the trip and can attend the planning meeting if you have questions!
