Cuicacalli meaning ‘House of Culture’ in Nahuatl language is a dance company based in San Francisco, California, founded and directed by Mexican native, Jesus Jacoh Cortes. Inspired by cultural traditions and their development to the modern days, Cuicacalli develops choreographies to maintain traditions, and support social justice and environmental situations. Cui

cacalli is a multi disciplinary dance company that fuses dance styles such as Indigenious, Folkloric, Contemporary, into a unique story of their own. Cuicacalli has participated and curated, "Baile en La Calle" a Brava Theater production, where dance, mural art, and music are presented in the streets of the Mission District, and has developed relationships and performed with San Francisco’s Exploratorium, San Francisco’s Earth Day, SF Carnaval, Cuba Caribe, FLACC, Dance Mission, de Young Museum, and Ballet Folkorico of Stanford University.

Cuicacalli Escuela de Danza y Compañía Presents its 18th Annual Festival: Tradición, Movimiento, y Pasión
A dance performance where our students, from beginner to advanced level, promise to transport audiences through diverse regions of Mexico to experience the pride of Ballet Folklórico Mexicano through Zapateados, Faldeos, and Sombreros, as well as enjoy the abstract motion of Contemporary dancing and the dynamic and energetic culture of Hip-Hop.
We invite the entire family to immerse themselves in the lively rhythms of “Tradición, Movimiento, y Pasión.”
