Next up: 7 DAYS A WEEK my first solo art show happening in my new hometown Toronto, Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦 This body of work explores my visual journey of Toronto signs, symbols, and landmarks. Since visiting and eventually moving here I have been inspired in my travels around town catching flicks of signs from the subway to local businesses and random signage that I have come across. Though this is a smaller intimate body of work it is one of experimentation whereby I used hand-cut stencils, textures, and airbrush to capture the look and feel of signs that I enjoy! A perfect example is the common convenient stores which have the symbol of a milk jug reading 7DAYS A WEEK, which is a nod to vintage times of milk delivery and also my viewpoint of weekly visual encounters in my new environment. I am super juiced to share this work with my friends and fans in Toronto and abroad. Catch the OPENING this Tuesday Sep8th from 6-10pm. Hope to see ya there TORONTO! This is for you! Warmly, Rayos Magos🙌🏽✨⚡️🤘🏽

Birthday 🎂 picnic moments: as a way to celebrate my bday in my new home we had a lil picnic at the park. I am forever grateful to find my tribe here in Toronto. As an adult is it often hard to find friends, build community, and to integrate into groups. Somehow I have attracted the best Toronto has to offer! Big THANK YOU for all the birthday wishes, blessings, and conversations. Community is about building and growing together. As I continue to grow and anchor myself here I feel confident in the foundation that has been built. I tried catching moments yesterday but I was too locked in. Shout out to JOVEN LUCIANO for catching some good Fisheye shots. Special thanks to my partner Yurika Chiba for supporting the party! Thanks to all my friends! Warmly, your art friend Rayos Magos🧙🏼‍♂️🙌🏽⚡️✨🤘🏽

Happy birthday to me! Another lap around the sun 🌞 I am forever grateful to be here in this lifetime. This last year has shed light that I have lived so many lives within this lifetime. Each year, each season, each moment, each day changes you for better or for worse. I choose to always see the better and to make room for newer versions of myself. Looking back at old pics such as these hilarious elementary school pics reminds me of how quickly life moves. Live your life to the fullest as we never know when it will be our last breath. Thank you for witnessing my growth as an artist, a friend, and a human! Keep smiling, keep crying, and the rest will fall into place. Keep fighting for your life that you want to lead and live! I am celebrating today in my new home away from home Toronto, Canada 🇨🇦 Sending much love and hugs to all my family and friends back home! See y’all soon:) warmly, Rayos ⚡️🥳✨🙌🏽🎂

Gallery pics of my solo show MERCADO CALIFORNIA. Currently on view til end of the month Pilsen Arts & Community House The work is a contemporary remix, mashup, and celebration of Mesoamerican art and Chicano culture. The re-weaving of cultural symbols creates a new context in the form of personal codices. The body of work spans paintings made in California at my old studio in 2025-2026 in my current home of Toronto. Share it with your people, go catch the show, take pics and enjoy! Much love, Rayos🙌🏽⚡️✨🤘🏽

“Cumbia Ancestral” is a new acrylic painting that I made for my solo show MERCADO CALIFORNIA on view now in Pilsen Chicago, IL Pilsen Arts & Community House The piece is a mix of Mesoamerican symbolism connected to music, poetry, ritual, and cultural identity. The funerary mask honors the past and celebrates the future. The cactus growing out of the head with an eagle on top references the founding of Tenochtitlán present day Mexico City. I used reference pics that I took of Mexican street musicians to bring that contemporary feel. I am big lover of music from Cumbia, Jazz, HipHop, Instrumental, etc. As a product of the 80s and child of the 90s I wanted to incorporate analogy technology, hence the Walkman with its iconic headphones. The listener could be hearing anything and everything. Though this piece has sold you can still catch it and many more while the show is up til the end of this month. Go catch it! Warmly, Rayos Magos🤘🏽⚡️✨🙌🏽🤩

“ Cruise Magic” is a new acrylic painting that I made for my solo show MERCADO CALIFORNIA currently on view Pilsen Arts & Community House in the hood of Pilsen Chicago, IL. The work represents cruising culture from@my hometown state California. Home of the lowrider and cruising. The Lowrider magazine comes from San Jose, Califas my hometown and is represented by the Lowrider emblem. Symbols such as lowrider car, cursive lettering, and a California license plate that reads Áztlan which is a Chicano philosophy/mentality and original homeland of the Azteca/Mexica. Other symbols such as Sq**rt and my Radio Flyer red wagon are childhood elements that take me back in time. Growing up in NorCal my family members went cruising and in my youth I did as well. There came a time when cruising was outlawed in my city, which was a strategic targeted ray(cyst) way to control Brown people. However, recent years the city along with the advocacy of Lowrider collectives have pushed back the ban and now cruise the city streets at events and on the weekends. This image is an homage to my hometown and state of California, which I miss daily. Much love to my family, my homies, and my city! Warmly, Rayos Magos🙌🏽⚡️✨💪🏽🤎
