Interesting but I don't get it... How do they operate on different terrain? Over water? Uneven surfaces? Stairs and ramps? If they only hover a few inches above ground, there's no advantage over traditional footwear. Clearly, there is a learning curve but it is difficult to concieve of a shoe that hovers with no contact with the ground providing more stability or control than a traditional shoe.
It would be cool for making an entrance, though!☺️

🧠💿 360 Terabytes on a Glass Disc That Could Last Forever? It’s Not Sci-Fi — It’s Science.

Scientists at the University of Southampton have developed a groundbreaking 5D optical data storage disc — capable of holding 360 TB of data (that’s nearly 7,000 Blu-rays 😱) and surviving billions of years without degrading.

✨ How it works:

Using femtosecond laser pulses, data is etched into nanostructured quartz glass, with five dimensions:
1. Size
2. Orientation
3. X
4. Y
5. Z

That’s why it’s called 5D — and it can withstand extreme heat (up to 1,000°C) and natural disasters.

📚 They’ve already archived major texts like the Bible, Magna Carta, and Universal Declaration of Human Rights on these discs — essentially creating a digital time capsule for future civilizations.

Whether it’s for space archives, data centers, or preserving knowledge long after we’re gone, this might just be the future of eternal storage. 🔐

It’s called The Uncensored Library, and it’s one of the most creative digital responses to global censorship. Built inside Minecraft by Reporters Without Borders in collaboration with BlockWorks, MediaMonks, and DDB, the library was launched in 2020 as a way to bypass media restrictions in countries where journalism is tightly controlled.

According to Minecraft net and Dezeen, the structure is a grand neoclassical-style virtual building, with elaborate halls dedicated to different nations, each containing articles, journals, and press freedom reports that are banned or censored in their home countries.

The idea is simple but powerful: while websites and social media may be blocked, Minecraft often remains accessible, especially among younger users. The library uses this loophole to host over 300 books from journalists in countries like Egypt, Russia, Mexico, and Iran. Players can read these texts inside the game, but cannot alter them, preserving their integrity.

The project is regularly updated and has been downloaded over 200,000 times, making it nearly impossible to take down — even by its creators. It’s a brilliant fusion of gaming, activism, and digital preservation.

STUDENTS to REIMAGINE HISTORY PARK THROUGH TECHNOLOGY

Spring 2026, The Reality Capture Technology Center will launch an exciting new STEAM program at History Park in San Jose. This innovative project will empower local students to use cutting edge technology to digitally document the entire 14 acre park and its 34 historic buildings- preserving history while preparing for the future.

Through this program, students will step into the role of engineers, surveyors and digital storytellers. They will learn to conduct surveys of the park grounds, operate advanced laser scanners and generate a detailed point cloud of the entire History Park campus. The massive data set will serve as the foundation for practical and creative projects alike, including:

-Creating topographic maps of the park
-Designing interactive walking tours and online exhibits
-Developing facility operation and maintenance plans to support HSJ

But the true power of this project lies in what students can build next. With the digital foundation in place, students can bring history to life through texture mapping, immersive VR tours, animated exhibits and digital storytelling experiences. Each new layer of creativity adds a fresh perspective on the stories held within the park's historic walls.

For participating students, this program is more than just a technical excercise. It's a chance to develop problem solving, teamwork and leadership skills while making a lasting contribution to the community. By blending history with innovation, they are creating alternative pathways to education, employment and self-sufficiency, skills that will serve them long after the project is complete.

Spring 2026, History Park will become more than a place to visit- it will become a living classroom, where the next generation learns how to preserve the past while shaping the future.
