This week, the PSY & CD Department’s Spotlight is on Savannah Stefani! ⭐️

Savannah is a child development major hoping to become a pediatric speech language pathologist in either a clinic or school setting.

Savannah’s favorite class was CD 230 because it gave her the opportunity to learn through a hands-on experience! And the best piece of advice she’s received is “Trust the process and enjoy the present moment you are in.”

This week’s Psychology & Child Development Spotlight is on Audrey Watkins! Audrey is a child development major and is planning on becoming a kindergarten teacher. Her favorite class is the Preschool Laboratory because she loved being able to apply what she learned in her other PSY/CD classes in the preschool. Audrey’s favorite travel destination is Hawaii and she loves iced vanilla oat milk lattes! The best piece of advice she has received is “Always do your best and that’s enough.” Way to go Audrey!

This week, the Psychology & Child Development Spotlight is on Sophie Albiani! Sophie is a Child Development major with a minor in Equity in Education. Her favorite season is spring and he favorite SLO gem is Terrace Hill at sunset. Sophie also works at Safer and listens to the Daily to stay up to date on current events! In the fall, she will be attending Sacramento State to start her Ed.S. in School Psychology. Congratulations Sophie!

Our PSY & CD Spotlight this week is Taylor Ureta! Taylor is a Psychology major with a minor in Child Development. Taylor works at the ASI Children’s Center, is the professional chair for the Psychology Club, and is a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority! She is hoping to pursue a doctorate in clinical/counseling developmental psychology!

❓Did you know that in addition to Campus Health & Wellbeing’s Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS), the Psychology and Child Development Department offers short-term counseling and consultation on campus through the Master of Science in Psychology program?

🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒 Open to enrolled Cal Poly students and all SLO County residents, the SLO Counseling Service at Cal Poly provides low cost ($5-$25) counseling sessions for children, youth, families, individuals, and couples!

📚 This service is staffed by culturally responsive, well-educated, and trained graduate students under the supervision of clinically licensed psychologists in the Psychology and Child Development Department.

PSY & CD Spotlight of the Week: Dr. Eric Goodman! Dr. Goodman’s doctoral degree is in counseling psychology from Northeastern University. In three words, Dr. Goodman would describe a perfect day with family, friends, and food. If Dr. Goodman could have one superpower, it would be to radiate empathy and compassion because the world needs it right now! Thank you Dr. Eric Goodman!
