Hello Everyone! While Campus Ministry has changed at DU - what hasn't changed is the one on one, personal touch that Dominican continues to give to each student.

Give back to our college! There are so many students in need of scholarships and help to achieve their dreams.

DU continues to do amazing things - they are a designated minority serving institution. They are giving so many first generation college students the chance to attend college and receive a top notch education with personal attention and professors and staff that truly care about them.

In 2015, Victory Gardens Theatre in Chicago was scheduled to stage the world premiere of A Wonder in My Soul by playwright Marcus Gardley, originally from West Oakland. That year I had purchased a subscription to the theater, for some ridiculous low cost of like $10 a month or something, and got a notice around January that year. Instead of the world premier play with music which had been in the works for 3 years or so, Gardley couldn’t finish it and instead started an entirely new play, writing from a first draft to the beginning of the production in 4 months....

This week one of my professors shared that his son in the Netherlands was visiting his in-laws this weekend with Monday a nationwide holiday with Pentecost today. I said it made sense for Monday to be a federal holiday, but less for Pentecost and more for Rotterdam hosting Eurovision this week. I’m super nerdy, so a weird, obscure European event celebrating pop songs which are awful and yet wonderful all at the same time fits me way too well....

One of the benefits for me as a young religious living in a house with community members older than me, or maybe wiser and more comfortable in their routines and patterns, is that I get the offshoots of some privileges - homemade cookies from folks coming for spiritual direction, lemons from parishioners' backyards, I also get HBO. Reading over the Gospel for this weekend, I was reminded that HBO had picked up a documentary and put it up on HBO Max called Alabama Snake - a documentary about a husband charged with trying to murder his wife, except the husband was a pastor of a snake-handling church in Appalachia....
