Meet Ben Hamman (B.F.A., industrial design, 2026)
🛠️🌲

Born and raised in Smithsburg, Maryland, right next to the Appalachian Trail, Ben grew up backpacking, exploring, and developing a deep appreciation for design, craft, and the outdoors.

During his time at SCAD, Ben discovered his passion for industrial design and embraced every opportunity to collaborate across creative disciplines.

⭐️ Completed a summer 2025 design internship with Adapt Studio in Anchorage, Alaska, where Ben created architectural and furniture illustrations and built full-scale furniture prototypes for design critiques

⭐️ Participated in multiple SCADpro collaborations, including Skullcandy, Club Car, and a PRO560 Lab project

⭐️ Worked on a special collaboration with Italian furniture company Cappellini and traveled to Milan for the experience

⭐️ Gained hands-on fabrication experience as a wood, metal, and plastic shop monitor for SCAD

⭐️ Spent over a year contributing to SCAD’s Aether EV project through design, CAD, and construction work

We love seeing SCAD students bring curiosity, collaboration, and craftsmanship into every project they take on!👏👏👏

SCAD Out to Launch 2026🚀

SCAD Atlanta recently welcomed 60 industry partners to an exclusive luncheon and showcase where SCAD students presented bold and innovative work. Leaning into Atlanta’s business network as a national hub for leading brands, students had the opportunity to network and share their ideas with chief creatives and key hiring managers across industries.

In honor of the Met Gala last Monday…
Meet Jose Martinez (B.F.A., fashion, 2023), Dominican-born designer and SCAD alum 🪡

After more than 250 hours of sketching, draping, corsetry, and hand sewing, Jose’s gown debuted on one of fashion’s biggest stages… the Met Gala.

Inspired by Hellenistic sculpture, Leonardo da Vinci’s anatomical studies, and the idea of “fashion as art,” the gown transformed into a living marble sculpture - blurring the line between stone and human form.

Jose shares, “For me, this dress is evidence of the intricate education I received at SCAD and the importance of teaching multidisciplinary courses. From art history to anatomical drawing and sculpting, this dress comes together as the epitome of ‘Art as Fashion.’ It is a tribute to all artists. Behind the aesthetics, there is intention, process, discipline, and a profound connection to the act of creating.”

From SCAD to the steps of the Met, Jose’s journey is a testament to the power of creativity, craftsmanship, and dedication 🤭👏

SCAD goes to Inspire Brands 🍟 👏🍔

For the third year in a row, SCAD students visited Inspire Brands and their in-house creative agency Maverick Studios — the company behind beloved brands Dunkin’, SONIC, Arby’s, Buffalo Wild Wings, Baskin Robbins, and Jimmy John’s.

More than a tour, participants had the opportunity to engage with the creative teams in a roundtable discussion on all things design and to be considered for summer internships in service design, graphic design, and production!

So cool🤭
