Impact Survey An online tool that allows libraries to find out how their community benefits from free access to computers and the internet.

Impact Survey is a program of the University of Washington with generous support from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The Impact Survey is a tool to evaluate how patrons use library computers. It is an extension of the 2009 U.S. IMPACT Study, a national telephone survey supplemented by an online survey deployed at participating libraries. Because the patron web survey proved be such a succe

ssful tool, the University of Washington, with generous support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, has extended the benefits of the U.S. IMPACT patron web survey by making it available to all public libraries to use in their own data collection, evaluation, and advocacy efforts. Public libraries can now conduct their own local Impact Study, at their convenience, using the online Impact Survey. Participating libraries who administer the survey receive a report that outlines their usage. The Impact Survey collects outcome-focused data about general use of library and online resources, as well as use across the following domains:
