With heartfelt sorrow we announce the homegoing of our beloved James Edward Brown, II, Esq. (Jimmy/JB), 55, who departed this life on Friday, December 19, 2025, after a triumphant 21 month battle with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, or Lou Gehrig's disease). James was born in Pittsburgh, PA and lived in Seattle, WA, but Philadelphia, PA was in his heart and soul. James was a husband, father of three college-educated adult sons, a beloved son and brother, an accomplished attorney who specialized in energy and utility regulation, and a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. James was a graduate of Central High School (Philadelphia), Morehouse College (Atlanta), and Villanova University School of Law (Villanova, PA). He enjoyed playing basketball, riding his bike, and rooting for the Philadelphia Eagles and Philadelphia Sixers.
James is survived by his wife (Sarica Parton, Esq.), three sons (Tyler, Christian, and Chase), siblings (Robert and Jennifer Merrill), parents (Dr. Sonya and Jesse Merrill and Rev. James and Linda Brown), and many loving family members and friends. Join us in celebrating a life well lived. For information pertaining to his Celebration of Life, please email [email protected]
