Madei Project

Madei Project Madei Project supports the people of Tohoku, Japan, who were affected by the disaster(tsunami/Fukush Thank you.

Today many people in Tohoku regions are still experiencing frustration and depression due to an inability to return to the lives they were living before the disaster. Under this circumstance, a group of mothers from Iitate, Fukushima, “Carnation Club” started making items made from the Kimono donated from all over Japan. The people are finding courage by working, and our hope is that more people b

ecome independent by working, which creates jobs in the regions. We also hope to involve more people who are still suffering from the disaster and initiated this new project, the“Madei Project”. (Madei (までい) is a word in the local dialect which means "respectfully, considerately, modestly, with care, with spirit, without haste and without waste".) We will need stores that will be able to add these items to their own inventories in order to make these handcrafted items continually available to their customer base and the public at large. These items are now available at "Sak n' Sak" , "Nikkei Tradition" in San Jose Japantown and "Far East University Market" in Riverside, California,

and occasionaly available at Farmers' Market in San Jose Japantown

Please let us know If you are interested in this project or you know stores that might be able to add our items to their own inventories.

::NEWS:: Come see us at Nikkei Matsuri-San Jose Japantown on Sunday, April 26!!!

Hi! I'm Yoko from Tokyo :) Today I saw 2 staff members of Madei Project, Taku and Satoko at Haneda Tokyo Airport. Satoko visited Japan from California, and we had a meeting at the airport before she left Japan (and we had a lot of catching-up to do!) These photos are taken at the airport, Madei Project have large shelves in Tokyo's Tokyo, nice and big souvenir shop in Haneda Airport Terminal 2. (羽田空港内の全国お土産ショップにまでいプロジェクトのコーナーがあります!プロジェクト発足直後から大きなスペースで商品を販売させていただいております。Tokyo's Tokyoにどうぞお立ち寄りください)
