Course Goal: To provide the students with the knowledge and skills necessary for them to safely and effectively participate in a trench rescue evolution. Description of Course: This course will introduce the student to the knowledges and skills necessary to safely and effectively perform complex rescue operations in collapsed trench excavations. Course work will include practical drills and demonstration in simulated trench excavations. Prerequisites: Minimum age: 18 years old at start of course and ELIS or equivalent discipline-specific training in occupational safety. Student Equipment & Supplies: Pen/Pencil, Notebook; and PPE. Course is a PSFA CEU program. Total hours = 16, CEUs = 1.6

Location: Westmoreland-Public Safety Training Center (PSTC), 65 Public Safety Drive, Smithton, PA 15479
Starts: Saturday, August 8 at 8 a.m.
Runs: Saturday & Sunday, August 8 & 9, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
Tuition / Material Fee: $120.00 & $100.00

Advanced Line Systems Rescue (PA Fish & Boat Commission) (ALSR) - Spring PSTC 2026 Class

Location: Westmoreland County Community College - Main Campus: Room to be Determined
Prerequisites: WRER (Water Rescue & Emergency Response – NFPA 1670 Operations, able to swim and meet PFBC Swim Standard Guidelines for curriculum.
Requirements: Student is responsible for proper PPE.
Starts: Saturday, June 6 at 8 a.m. • Run: Saturday June 6 & June 7, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Sunday, June 7 morning will be the pool session at Mon-Valley YMCA, then to at designated water rescue area based on water levels in the area.

First come first served, must be pre-registered!!
