✰ Today we celebrate International Nurses Day! 🩺 👩‍⚕️✰

★ Tori Thompson is a sophomore nursing major whose kindness brings smiles to her patients’ faces.

We asked Tori why she decided to pursue nursing as a career path:

“My path toward nursing began when I served as a primary caregiver for my grandfather during his year in hospice. This experience, combined with the mentorship of his nurse, Tammy, gave me a look of deep respect for the profession. Tammy’s example of excellence and empathy showed me exactly what a ‘true nurse’ looks like. I’m forever greatful for what may come in my career path.”

✰ Senior Spotlight! ✰

★ Next we have Piper Jones! Piper will be receiving a bachelor’s in Early Education! After Witt, she will be teaching at an elementary school! She held the position of Member Development VP while a member!

Piper’s advice for current and future Xisters is, “Hang on to all your Xisters. Some of the best memories you will make happen in the unplanned and unstructured time.”

Piper’s favorite AXiD memories are, “Playing card games while we waited for MEC to let out. When we were all slap happy and tired to the bone.”

A fun fact related to her career path is, “One of the schools I am applying for has a bring your tractor to school day for the high school.”

Congratulations, Piper! We are so proud of you, and we can’t wait to see where you go! 🍎📚 ★

✰ Senior Spotlight! ✰

★ Today we’re starting off with Emmalee Do! Emmalee will be receiving a dual licensure in P-5 education and K-12 Intervention Specialist with a minor in African & Diaspora Studies! After Witt, she will be serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Kyrgyz Republic, co-teaching English! She held the positions of Chapter President, Membership Vice President, Community Service Director, DEI Director, COB Director, and Honor Board Council while a member!

Emmalee’s advice for current and future Xisters is, “Make the most of your time! Go to as many things as you can, even when you think there’s too many things going on at once, those are the weeks you’ll love and miss most. You love the chapter, your xisters love you, enjoy your time together!”

Emmalee’s favorite AXiD memories are, “the study nights at the house when we would put on a video of a fire place and study and yap and just be together, and of course every single bid day!!!! And coming down from the MEC meetings after the long days during recruitment and seeing what everyone else had done that night.”

A fun fact related to her career path is, “I’ll be leaving to be a volunteer teacher in Kyrgyz Republic (aka Kyrgyzstan) just 2 weeks after graduation!”

✰ Feeling nostalgic and want to relive the good old field days in school? Come join the Xisters for an evening of fun and games, including tic-tac-toe, egg relay race, corn hole, and more! Earn raffle tickets for each game you play, and enter to win either a study-themed or a movie-themed basket! ✰

★ This event will be on Tuesday, April 21, taking place at Stoughton Lawn (in between New Hall and Benham-Pence Student Center) from 5-7 pm. Admission is $8. All proceeds go to the Kindly Hearts Initiative!
