Having support from a doula increases the rates of having a vaginal birth and DECREASES the rates of having interventions (pain medication, epidurals, pitocin, cesarean section, etc).

Doulas are able to support the whole family by keeping the birthing person’s support team educated, providing resources, preparing meals, light housekeeping, tending to children and caring for the newborn.

You have someone paying attention to your physical comfort through techniques

You have someone offering emotional support through words of encouragement and reassurance

Provide information about what’s occurring during labor and postpartum period as well as someone who is able to provide explanation of procedures, immunizations, etc
