Workshop Description

EndNote Basics: Getting Started with Citation Management

EndNote 21 is a citation management tool that makes saving citations from databases and then citing them within Word documents easy. This introductory session prepares first-time EndNote users to get started using the basic features of EndNote, including:
Setting up your EndNote library
Exporting citation information from a database
Inserting citations into Word documents
Automatically changing citation styles for added citations

This introductory session is geared toward the health sciences colleges. As such, the focus will be on health sciences databases and citation styles.

Attendees should download and install EndNote 21 from Saint Louis University prior to this workshop. See the EndNote 21 research guide for instructions. Also note that EndNote 21 primarily works with the desktop version of Microsoft Word.

Library News: Expanded Open Access Publishing Through Transformative Agreements

We're pleased to announce that the University Libraries have finalized transformative agreements with three major academic publishers—Springer, Wiley, and Elsevier—significantly expanding open access publishing opportunities for our research community.

What This Means for You

These agreements provide eligible researchers with Article Processing Charge (APC) waivers when publishing in a wide range of hybrid and fully open access journals. This means your research can be published open access at no direct cost to you or your research budget, making your work immediately available to readers worldwide.

Key Benefits
The transformative agreements support SLU's commitment to open scholarship by removing financial barriers to open access publishing while maintaining access to the publishers' extensive journal collections. Researchers can now share their findings more broadly without navigating complex APC funding arrangements.

Getting Started
School of Medicine faculty and researchers interested in taking advantage of these publishing opportunities should contact the Library at: [email protected] for guidance on eligibility, participating journals, and the submission process. Detailed information about covered journals and terms is available on the Library's Open Access Publishing guide:

This guide highlights open access agreements between Saint Louis University and publishers.
