What a wonderful way to kickstart summer: The UMSL Office of Inclusive Postsecondary Education made new connections on May 30, 2026, with a number of organizations that may benefit our friends in Jefferson County, Missouri through the Pony Bird Disability Resource Fair in Herculaneum. We look forward to inviting Developmental Disability Advocates, Little House of Neurodiversity, Jefferson County Health Department, Aspiring Solutions , and to next year's Ready, Set, Go! We're wrapping up May 1, 2026, with a beautiful bow: Messages of encouragement and empowerment from our University of Missouri-St. Louis UMSL: College of Education colleagues. The UMSL College of Education has the incredible privilege of inspiring and preparing present and future education professionals for their transformative role in the lives of students. It is a privilege they take to heart.

Dr. April Regester, Associate Professor and Department Chair for Educator Preparation and Leadership is actually a founding collaborator of the UMSL Office of Inclusive Postsecondary Education Succeed Program. Besides her trailblazing work at the University, she actively advocates inclusive postsecondary education (IPSE) for individuals with intellectual disability across the nation. She serves as Treasurer of the Inclusive Postsecondary Education Association. Its foundational pillars are to build community, foster partnerships, provide professional development, and advance leadership and advocacy.

We concur with Dean of the UMSL College of Education Dr. Marius Boboc that everyone is a unique and valuable member of our community. Education is universal. Quality education should be available to anyone who pursues it. It should promote equity and a sense of belonging. This is the reason we celebrate the power of inclusive postsecondary education. If you are an individual with an intellectual disability and/or developmental disabilities and you choose higher education as a pathway to thriving independence, know that we will be here to support YOU.

It began with UMSL Office of Inclusive Postsecondary Education TPSID team member Dr. Wen Zeng reaching out with a request to Mayor Cara Spencer's office in the City of St. Louis. Would it be possible to declare May 1, 2026 as "Postsecondary Education for All" Day in the City of St. Louis? The answer was a resounding YES.

The students, faculty, ASL interpreters, and team members of the UMSL OIPE wish to thank La-Tiesha, Shawn, and Mayor Spencer for this May 1, 2026 Proclamation.

We also thank our friends at the St. Louis Office of Developmental Disability Resources for supporting students who reside in the City of St. Louis or who attend St. Louis Public Schools with a full camp scholarship of up to $1,200 per student when they join our OIPE Succeed Summer Enrichment Camp.

Our weeklong camp held in mid-June and mid-July prepares students with intellectual and developmental disabilities for college life at the University of Missouri-St. Louis OIPE Succeed Program.

Hooray for "Postsecondary Education for All"! If you are at least 17 years old, with a documented disability, and are able to manage your own medications, we invite you to apply for camp: https://umsl.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_aaDpOAIpgAKuNVk
