The Solar Decathlon is a US Department of Energy sponsored, biennial, international, collegiate competition to design, build, and operate a net-zero energy, solar-powered home. The 2013 competition take place October 2015 at Orange County Great Park in Irvine CA. Stanford will join seventeen other schools from around the world as they compete. The teams will be scored on ten different categories:


1.) Market Appeal
3.) Engineering
4.) Communications
5.) Affordability
6.) Comfort Zone
7.) Home Life
8.) Appliances
9.) Commuting
10.) Energy Balance
