“I entered the campus at 18 years old in 2016, and FAMU has definitely changed since the first time I laid foot on campus. There are many buildings like Diamond and Paddyfoote that have been torn down and rebuilt, and in the way that FAMU has changed on the outside, it has definitely changed on the inside too. Before COVID, there were alot of organizations and fun things on campus that all went into a hiatus when the pandemic hit. But during that time when COVID was raging and the campus was empty, FAMU was really building things up, so once we came back to campus and COVID had kind of dissipated, you really see just how much it’s grown and improved. Sometimes we really do have to tear things down in order to rebuild again and make room to grow, which is something FAMU has definitely shown me. And I think that's a lesson in and of itself as well, because I absolutely love what FAMU has done for me in terms of growing as well. Because sometimes, again, you have to break things down in order to rebuild, and sometimes in those moments where you’re really building the most and making those big changes, many people aren’t there to see them. So it's up to you to measure out your growth, and where you want to see yourself, and you may not be able to actually see yourself there until you’re there. I feel that I’ve really been building in private, but now that I’m looking at myself now I’m just like ‘Wow, you’re definitely not the same person that came here in 2016.’ I will be graduating this semester, Spring 2022, and I’m definitely grateful to FAMU for helping me grow, because I feel like there's no other place that could have prepared me the way this school has, so I’m very thankful for that.”
