A new academic year. A new chapter.
As the 2026–27 academic year begins, so does a new chapter for Maricopa Community Colleges as Dr. Steven Bloomberg begins his tenure as Chancellor.
“Education changes lives, families, and entire communities, and I believe deeply in our responsibility as leaders to create opportunity for every student who walks through our doors. I am incredibly honored to serve as Chancellor of the Maricopa County Community College District and to join a community so deeply committed to student success, innovation, and service. Together, we will build on Maricopa’s extraordinary legacy while expanding pathways of hope, achievement, and economic mobility for the students and communities we are privileged to serve,” said Dr. Bloomberg.
Dr. Bloomberg begins his tenure as the sixth Chancellor of Maricopa Community Colleges. Prior to joining the system, he served as Chancellor of California’s Kern Community College District, which serves more than 50,000 students across Bakersfield College, Cerro Coso Community College, and Porterville College.
