The stewardship of two of its’ charter members, Brothers Jason McCalla and William Willams along with brothers who joined the chapter from Mu Kappa, Kappa Rho and Iota Rho chapters set out to change the trajectory of lives in the Bronx and have never looked back. On June 11, 2011, Brother Jason McCalla assumed leadership of the Bronx Alumni Chapter and with that began the dawn of Kappa’s presence
throughout the Bronx. His tenure as Polemarch lasted three years. During this time he established the Bronx Alumni Foundation as a 501c3 not-for-profit, the annual Golf Scholarship Outing to assist underprivileged youth, the annual Paintball Reclamation Outing and the annual Toy Drive for Children. He is also credited with entering Bronx Alumni into the history annals of Kappa Alpha Psi with the initiation of neuroscientist, Dr. Rastafa Geddes at the Centennial Anniversary in Indiana. His tenure ended with the initiation of Augustine Rodriguez, a legacy and brother of Iota Rho/Bronx Alumni Brother Hector Rodriguez. On June 14, 2014, Brother Dr. Joseph Cordero became the next brother to lead the charge in the Bronx. During his administration the chapter has established an Adopt-a-Highway site, provided food drops feeding Bronx residents in the thousands, hosted the Northeastern Polemarch’s Roundtable, New York City Metro Area Founders Day Luncheon and the 86th Northeastern Province Council. The chapter has also established Back to School Haircuts for community children and “Kappa Kane Kamp” for aspiring steppers and kaners. Under Brother Cordero’s leadership, Brothers Askia Abdul-Qadir and James Davie Jr. were initiated in Fall 2015. The work of Bronx Alumni Chapter and its’ impact on the Bronx community is immeasurable. In the past three years the chapter has received several citations from the New York State Assembly, The New York City Public Advocate, The Bronx Borough President and various community organizations. Our work has been documented by local print and television media. The Brothers of the Bronx Alumni Chapter continue to serve our community through leadership, service and brotherhood.
