On Day 7 in South Korea, we traveled to Gyeongju by train, just 2 hours from Seoul. This culturally rich city boasts national treasures from the 8th century Shilla dynasty. We stayed in a traditional Hanok, and our hotel even provided a hanbok service to fully immerse us in the old Korean lifestyle.

Day 6 was packed with a variety of activities in Seoul. We kicked things off in Insadong, exploring the artistic and traditional street. Next, we visited the Baek InJae house, the first surgeon in Korea who was abducted to North Korea. Our journey took us to Unhyeon Palace, where Daewon Gun, the father of the 26th king of Joseon, once lived. We ended the day at SBS Inkigayo, the Korean version of Coachella, where we watched 30 K-pop groups perform. Unfortunately, pictures weren't allowed!

The School of Performing Arts is pleased to welcome Andrea Welty Peachey as our new Senior Lecturer in Music Education and Clinical Practice beginning Fall 2026!

Mrs. Peachey brings more than 25 years of experience in choral directing and music teaching across public and private schools in Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Texas, and Illinois. Most recently, she served as an instructional professor in the music education program at Gordon College in Wenham, Massachusetts, where she taught courses in music education, music in worship, world music, and voice class for non-vocal majors, while also serving as assistant director of the Gordon College Children’s Chorus.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Goshen College and a Master of Arts in Music Education from the Hartt School of Music at the University of Hartford.

In her new role at UT Tyler, Mrs. Peachey will teach courses in music education and world music while supporting and mentoring future music educators through clinical teaching, observation placements, and student teaching experiences. She will also help strengthen partnerships with schools throughout the region as part of the continued growth of the music education program.

Outside of music, Andrea enjoys swimming, the outdoors, and learning Spanish. She and her husband, Jon Welty Peachey, Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs at UT Tyler, have one daughter, Allysen, who is currently pursuing graduate studies in environmental policy at the University of Michigan.

Please join us in welcoming Andrea Welty Peachey to the UT Tyler School of Performing Arts!
