These are the final conclusions and important statistics taken away from the survey.
In the ends, we found that education, political allegiance, age, and location are not good enough to protect an individual from digital disinformation. Brandeis is a top 50 university in the country, and yet participants still struggled in identifying fake news. If these assumptions continue, the use of fake news will only rise and further the issue at hand.

This is an example of a side-by-side comparison question from our survey. In this specific example, two posts are seen with the exact same information displayed. However, the source attached has been altered. We did this, purposely, because we wanted the responders to answer the question based on content. What we found out was a heavy reliance on the source. People often aligned themself with the media outlet they trusted, not the content that resonated with them.

First, we wanted to explain our motivation behind our study. The study looks to debunk the assumption that higher educated individuals are less susceptible to digital disinformation. We believe that this notion justifies the marginalization of those who may have not had the resources to pursue higher learning. Our survey form hopes to find alternate reasons for the phenomenon of fake news.
