American University - Define American Chapter

American University - Define American Chapter The Define American Chapter at AU provides a community on campus for constructive, thoughtful and insightful discussions about what it means to be an American.

We wish to bring the conversation on American identity, immigrants, and cultural diversity to our college community. We hope to reach out to students who have different opinions and backgrounds, and create opportunities for mutual understanding.

Meet our Secretary, Saira Umar! Saira is a second-year Theater major/Animation minor from Potomac, MD. Her mother is Burmese/Chinese and her father is Pakistani/Indian. She got started at Define American after hearing about and submitting to a video contest with USA OUR WAY about American Identity. Being a first-generation, bi-ethnic artist, identity and culture as well as storytelling are really important to her.
