Looking to get in the Christmas spirit while getting your holiday shopping done? Madison, Connecticut’s downtown commercial district is the perfect place to visit. The shoreline town recently started the “Light Up Madison” campaign which features more than 25,000 lights in hopes that it would attract visitors and increase business for local stores. “The Madison Economic Development Commission wishes to brighten the spirits of residents, visitors and to provide a draw to town during the holiday season and early winter months,” the town’s official website stated....

Crescent Lake is situated on the Plainville-Southington town line. The lake sprawls across 56 acres and can be accessed from Ledge Road. The parking lot entrance is located on Shuttle Meadow Road. Around the lake is a 2.4 mile moderately trafficked loop trail with an elevation of 269 ft. The trail is on the easy side of moderate which makes it ideal for beginners or those looking for a quick hike. [ 193 more words ]
