Med/Fire Rescue students have been out doing community outreach, visiting elementary schools to talk through basic fire safety with kids. They’ve also been working with other firefighters on health and wellness, focusing on staying ready for the job. Good to see them putting time into both the community and their own development.

Our paramedic students recently had a valuable hands-on learning opportunity thanks to a partnership with the Humane Society and Lake Area Veterinary Clinic.

When the Humane Society has an influx of cats needing care, some are brought to Lake Area Vet for spay/neuter procedures, microchipping, and preparation for adoption. Before their procedures, our paramedic students are able to practice endotracheal intubation under the guidance of veterinary staff.

This experience gives students the chance to refine critical airway management skills in a controlled environment before performing these life-saving procedures in the field. We are incredibly grateful to the Humane Society and the team at Lake Area Veterinary Clinic for helping provide this unique training opportunity.

The cats receive the care they need and soon move on to their forever homes, while our students gain confidence and experience that will help them care for patients in our communities.

Thanks for visiting. We appreciate it!
