Originally from Colombia, Leidy Ward Carreno enrolled in ESL classes at CFCC to strengthen her communication skills and create new opportunities for herself and her family.

Carreno and her husband, a retired military service member, run Takin It Light Photography, a family-owned and veteran-operated photography business. She supports the business through client communication and daily operations.

Looking ahead, she plans to continue her studies and explore graphic design at CFCC to help grow the business's creative services.

CFCC is launching an exciting new Live House Project that will give students hands-on experience building residential homes from the ground up and will involve students and faculty from numerous programs!

The first home will be constructed at CFCC’s North Campus over four semesters beginning this fall. Upon completion, the home will be publicly auctioned.

CFCC alumnus Zachary Davis made a major career change and is now working as a network engineer at Novant Health.

Zachary enrolled in CFCC’s Information Technology program in 2022 after years of working in construction. Today, he helps maintain critical network systems across hospital campuses and medical facilities.

“To be honest, I didn’t expect to be in this world as quickly as I am,” he said. “So I’m very happy and excited.”

Huge news for CFCC! Our Film and Video Production Technology program has a new home at Cinespace Studios, expanding from 2,500 to 7,200 square feet and tripling student capacity.

The partnership also makes CFCC the first community college in the country to operate a Film and Video Production program on a Cinespace studio lot.

“For more than 20 years, we’ve dreamed of building this program into what it was always meant to be. Relocating CFCC’s Film and Video Production Technology program to Cinespace gives students the rare opportunity to learn in the environment where professional filmmaking happens every day," said Duke Fire, the program director.
