It was an exciting weekend for the Xavier University of Louisiana Tampa Bay Alumni!! We were honored to host the Xavier University Concert Choir and Chorus, along with the Campus Ministry Gospel Choir and Liturgical Dancers. Upon arrival on Saturday morning the students toured St Peter Claver Catholic School the oldest continuously operating historically black grade school in Florida which was financially supported by St. Katharine Drexel and her sister.

Thank you to the Catholic Diocese of St. Petersburg for helping us to welcome our students along with St Paul's Catholic Church and a very special thank you to Mt. Zion Progressive Missionary Baptist Church and our (FOX) Friends of Xavier and Xavier parents who support us in everything that we do!!

Xavier University is monitoring the progress of Tropical Storm Ida currently forming in the Caribbean. The storm is expected to strengthen and develop into a Category 2 or Category 3 hurricane as it moves toward the Gulf of Mexico.

Forecasters expect the storm to make landfall near the west of New Orleans overnight Sunday, August 29 into Monday, August 30. The projected impact of this storm locally will be heavy rainfall, strong winds, power outages and street flooding.

We will continue monitoring over the weekend and will send out additional information as warranted. Please visit the www.xula.edu homepage, monitor your XULA email, the XULA Safe app, and social media accounts for official information.
