What is UPC Barcode?
UPC (Universal Product Code) codes are one type of Product ID that Amazon requires when listing an item for sale. UPC barcodes contain black bars, white spaces, and 12 numbers. Bar codes, which correspond directly to numbers, are scanned to identify a product correctly. Most of us have used self-checkouts at the supermarket at some point, so we are familiar with the concept of barcodes used for identification and pricing.
Why do I need to buy UPCs for Amazon?
To sell a product on Amazon, it must have a UPC, otherwise, it won't be accepted.
Amazon's policy is to cross-check UPC codes with the GS1 database, but only for Brand Registered Sellers.
