Since the ancient times it is famous for its vast reserve of biodiversity and life bestowing medicinal plants. The geographical and climatic conditions of the region are considered to be ideal for the Horticulture. Considering the above, for the development of horticulture as an entrepreneurship in Uttaranchal the State has been declared as “Horticulture State” so that the God gifted Natural Resou
rce are utilized for the integrated development of the state. To consummate the goal this College came into existence on June 12, 2001 as Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali College of Horticulture, at Bharsar, District Pauri Garhwal. The meaning of Bharsar in local dialog is ‘flourished with natural wealth’. It is spread over in an area of around 175 hectares consisting of forest and horticulture area on 104 and 71 hectares, respectively at an altitude ranging between 1800-2300 m above msl. The College has been named in the memory of freedom fighter Late Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali of this area who was associated with Peshawar events in 1931. Since 1924 to 1951 this orchard was a personal property of an Englishman named Mr. McMillan, locally famous as ‘Jogi Sahab’. In 1951, he sold the area to the Horticulture Department, Uttar Pradesh. Since then till the date of establishment of this College it remained under the control of Horticulture Department, Uttar Pradesh. Although, the Ex-chief Minister inaugurated the college, Government of Uttaranchal on June 12, 2001, it was procedurally handed over to the Govind Ballabh Pant University of Ag. & Tech., Pantnagar on the occasion of second Uttaranchal Day i.e. November 9, 2002. The various College activities started from July 2003 after joining of academic and non-academic staff. Now it have been merged with UUHF, Bharsar on 28th April, 2011. Those who have walked the peaceful streets of the campus, those who have enjoyed the cool & refreshing air of the Cool-Point, Those who had never-closing accounts because of Bunn-Omlettes-Maggies-Samosa-Jalebies-Biscuits-Namkeens-"People Choice-O'YES"-and-hot Gingerfull Tea in rainy or snowy days at Kally Da's priceless shop, those who have bought unlimited recharges-food items-cold drinks-chocolates-swarn partein-etc. from Debu Da's shop, those who have enjoyed Fauji Uncle's Maggies & Wai-Wai's in every party, those who wondered about Manvar Bhaiya's shop if it opens someday, those who enjoyed the Snow-fights, those who ever tried to swim across that pool with chilled water, those who liked evening walks just to get a chance to talk to the Ghasyaarans and those who really succeeded, those who enjoyed the taste of hand-picked Apples, Peaches, Pears, Plums, Apricot, Almonds, Chest-nuts, Strawberries, Cucumbers, etc. , who have enjoyed the heights of "Budha Bharsar Mandir", who have enjoyed the Bhajans and Bhandaara's at "Radha-Krishna Temple", those who remember the lonely gate of the Bharsar-Bend, those who will remember the essence of Bharsar till the end, those who have been attached with the enormous thoughts and memories of their LIFE AT BHARSAR are most welcome to come and Like This Page if you wish to go back to those days again.
