We had a wonderful time this weekend seeing that we have the blood, the word, the Spirit, and the church as the way for us to go on in our Christian life. Let's continue on and gain Christ!

Phil 3:8 But moreover I also count all things to be loss on account of the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, on account of whom I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as refuse that I may gain Christ.

Today we begin our new reading schedule: Romans to Revelation in one semester!

In Romans 1:1, Paul refers to himself as "a slave of Christ Jesus." In ancient custom and law, a slave was a person owned by his master. The master could even dictate whether the slave should live or die. Paul was such a slave of Christ. He was bought by Christ, not merely hired by Him as a servant.

The word slave denotes two things: one who is bought with a price, and one who surrenders himself.

The woman in Matthew 26 saw, more than his own disciples, the Lord's great worth. Before his death, she poured out an alabaster flask of costly ointment on his head, anointing Him for His burial (Matt 26:12). His disciples did not value the Lord in the same way at this moment; they called her anointing a "waste."

What's that thing of great value to you? Are you willing to "waste" it on the Lord? This is the goal of the gospel: to "waste" ourselves on Christ, to give ourselves utterly and completely to Him. ❤️

It is never a waste to pour out something on the Lord. It's never too much to love the Lord with everything. Because of her action in Matthew 26, the Lord said her story should be told whenever the gospel was shared!
