Give To Meet The Need Of Others
In the following Scriptures, the Bible teaches that God requires us to meet the needs of the less fortunate:
âIf anyone is poor among your fellow Israelites give generously to them and do so without a grudging heart; then because of this the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you put your hand toâ (Deuteronomy 15:7, 10). âBlessed are those who have regard for the weak; the Lord delivers them in times of trouble. The Lord protects and preserves themâthey are blessed in the landâHe does not give them over to the desire of their foes. The Lord sustains them on their sickbed and restores them from their bed of illnessâ (Psalm 41:1â3). âOne person gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty. A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshedâ (Proverbs 11:24â25). âAll the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had needâ (Acts 2:44â45). âSince you excel in everything, see that you also excel in this grace of givingâ (2 Corinthians 8:7). âDo not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleasedâ (Hebrews 13:16). âIf anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truthâ (1 John 3:17â18). So, give to meet the needs of others.
