As the G20 meets in Johannesburg, South Africa continues to face an urgent and devastating crisis: a woman is murdered every 2.5 hours. Gender-based violence and femicide remain a national disaster, and silence is no longer an option.
Today, REFA South Africa stands with campuses and communities across the country for the National Women’s Shutdown — demanding a safer, more just society rooted in care, dignity, and democratic accountability.
How you can join the action today:
• Observe the 15-minute national standstill at 12:00 PM
• Wear black in mourning
• Wear purple or use a purple profile background
• Support organisations fighting GBVF
• Withdraw labour where possible
• Engage in campus and community organising
Another world is possible — but only if we build it together.

🔥REFA FESTIVAL RECAP

The University of Fort Hare chapter was well represented at the REFA Festival at the University of Johannesburg. It was an interactive and productive gathering of heterodox and pluralist economics discourse.

We remain committed to Rethinking Economics for Africa kwa Nokholeji.💙💛
