Meet Hloniphile Charmaine Phakula, a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Sciences and PGCE graduate and the founder of Hloni’s Tasty Treats. Her baking business specialises in custom cakes, cupcakes, and beautifully crafted treats for birthdays, weddings, graduations, and other special occasions.

With a passion for creativity and quality, Hloni combines elegant design with delicious flavour, offering personalised service that brings each client’s vision to life.

Through initiatives like these, the University of Limpopo continues to champion innovation and entrepreneurship, reinforcing its commitment to Finding Solutions for Africa.

Ramogale Thomas Dinawa (43), from Ga-Mothapo Paledi, is a dedicated runner preparing for his 7th Comrades Marathon. Inspired to start in 2017, he has earned 3 Silver and 3 Bill Rowan medals and completed several major races. Passionate about growth and resilience, he continues to push his limits while appreciating the support of his family and the University of Limpopo Athletics Club.

𝐖𝐀𝐓𝐂𝐇 𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐈𝐋𝐄𝐑: 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐔𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐆𝐮𝐧

A powerful story of resistance, memory, and legacy. Inspired by the seminal memoir of Ernest Khosa, a two-term SRC President at Turfloop (1988–1990), this film captures the unyielding spirit of a generation that stood fearless against the brutality of the apartheid state at the then University of the North, now the University of Limpopo.

Produced and directed by award-winning filmmaker Tebogo Malope, alongside Executive Producer Cornet Mamabolo, the film brings together both rising stars and seasoned talent. Featuring performances by Nthati Moshesh, Arthur Molepo, Molefi Monaisa, Nat Ramabulana, King Monada, Mashabela Galane, and Mamabolo himself.

This is more than a film, it’s a tribute to courage, youth activism, and a history that must never be forgotten.

Meet Ndlala Nkateko, a 35-year-old runner from Tzaneen, he began his running journey in 2022 and is already preparing for his fifth Comrades Marathon, with an impressive record of two silver medals, one Bill Rowan, and one bronze. He has also completed four Two Oceans Marathons. Running keeps him fit, healthy, and mentally strong, while his involvement in charity running stands out as his proudest achievement. He credits his growth to consistency, staying injury-free, and the unwavering support of his family, to whom he expresses deep gratitude and love.

Meet Sipho Sibiya, a 50-year-old runner from Lebowakgomo, he began his running journey in 2008 after leaving soccer and quickly developed a passion for long-distance running. He completed his first marathon in 2010, qualifying for the Comrades Marathon, which he debuted in 2011. Since then, he has completed 11 Comrades Marathons, earning 9 Bill Rowan medals and 2 bronze medals, despite facing health setbacks along the way. Driven by discipline and consistency, he now aims to achieve a silver medal. Sibiya attributes his success to the unwavering support of his wife, community, and the University of Limpopo Athletics Club, and values the strong sense of unity within the running community.

Rusnath Malangane, a 38-year-old runner from Tzaneen based in Phalaborwa, is a Library Assistant at the Department of Arts and Culture and will be running his fifth Comrades Marathon in 2026. He began running in 2010 and officially competing in 2022, inspired by endurance challenges that built his discipline and resilience. With multiple medals and experience in major races like Two Oceans, he continues to push himself despite setbacks, including injury. Driven by community support and strong faith, Rusnath aims to improve his time while using running as a journey of healing, purpose, and spiritual upliftment.
